Product-Highlights

  • Generator options - Automatic Voltage Regulation AVR

    While voltage deviations of approx. ±10% are permissible on the public mains, for generators with automatic voltage regulation (AVR) an accuracy in controlling the output voltage of ±1-2% is achieved. The AVR is equipped with potentiometers to adjust the output voltage, the control behaviour (reduction of overshooting) and the generator frequency.

  • Quality electricity with constant voltage

    The AVR (automatic voltage regulation) keeps the output voltage produced by the generator largely constant under static conditions and evens out voltage changes quickly. The regulation is linked to the output phases of the generator and controls the voltage to the connected electrical loads.
    When additional consumers come on line or the load increases, the output voltage falls. In order to compensate for the voltage change, direct current is fed into the excitation winding of the generator. This increases the magnetic excitation of the generator rotor. The voltage at the output phases is increased and adjusted to the rated voltage by the AVR.

  • Advantages of AVR

    The AVR minimises voltage fluctuations with changing load, reduces voltage peaks and ensures constant, stable output from the generator.
    The outstanding current quality achieved with the AVR benefits the connected loads. Generators with AVR are therefore the best choice for operating sensitive electronic devices and consumers that are difficult to start up.
    Many ELMAG® generators have AVR as standard or can be upgraded with AVR.

  • AVR circuit board

    The AVR includes potentiometers for pre-setting the voltage, stability and frequency of the generator. The controllers are set precisely in the factory.

  • Potentiometer V (VOLT) for adjusting the output voltage of the generator

    - 230 volts 190-285V AC
    - 400 volts: 360-500V AC
    The generator voltage must not be set above +5% of the rated voltage.

  • Potentiometer ST (STAB) for setting the stability of the generator

    fast = less stable, slow = more stable
    If the control speed is increased, the control system responds quickly to voltage changes, but tends to create voltage fluctuations.
    If the control speed is reduced, the system becomes more stable but the output voltage varies from the target voltage for longer.
    The optimal control behaviour is achieved if the output voltage falls when the load is switched on, then oscillates over the mains voltage and then quickly settles at the nominal voltage.

  • Potentiometer UF for setting the generator frequency at 50 or 60 Hz

    Frequency should only be changed by a qualified electrician.
