Piston compressors: Ideal for every workshop

A piston compressor consists of one or more cylinders that are driven by a motor. The air is sucked into the cylinder and compressed to the operating pressure in one or more stages. After compression, the compressed air flows through the aftercooler into the compressed air tank.

Piston compressors are usually used where there is a lower compressed air requirement. Single-stage units are designed for approx. 8 - 10 bar, multi-stage units can deliver up to 30 bar. They are suitable for short-term operation and less for long-term operation. An operating time of approx. 4 hours per day is therefore often recommended. In addition, the duty cycle of an air-cooled piston compressor should not exceed 60 %. A break of 1.5 minutes after every 2 minutes of compression time should be observed.
