Extraction systems with extraction arm

To extract welding fumes and vapours directly at the source, the use of an extraction system with an extraction arm is recommended. Thanks to its rotating and swivelling arm, the mobile system can be positioned in the immediate vicinity of the welding point and the extraction arm can be optimally aligned with the welding fumes. This not only minimises the pollution of the ambient air, but also increases the effectiveness of the entire extraction system.

Frequently asked questions

Is extraction mandatory when welding?

According to the Employee Protection Act (ASchG) and the Limit Value Ordinance (GKV ) , welding fumes and harmful substances must be extracted in order to protect the health of employees. As the vapours produced during welding are classified as carcinogenic, professional extraction systems should be used to keep exposure to welding fumes as low as possible.

How does an extraction system work?

Extraction systems capture welding fumes directly at the source using a flexible extraction arm that can be precisely positioned. The fume is sucked into the system by a powerful fan and particles and pollutants are removed by a multi-stage filter system. The cleaned air is then either fed back into the work area or discharged to the outside.

How often do extraction systems need to be serviced?

The maintenance intervals for extraction systems depend on the use, the model and the manufacturer's specifications. The system must be inspected before initial commissioning. It should then be checked regularly to ensure that it is functioning properly. Depending on the load and intensity of use, non-self-cleaning filters should be replaced every 3 to 6 months . Once a year, the systems must be inspected and serviced by a specialist in accordance with the Austrian Ordinance on Limit Values (GKV).

Can the extraction system also be used for sanding or cutting?

Depending on the model, an extraction system can also be used for sanding or sawing wood. However, as the particles produced in this process vary in size and composition, the requirements for the filter technology change. It is therefore important to check the suitability of the respective extraction system for the corresponding application. For specific information, we recommend contacting ELMAG directly.

What range do extraction arms of extraction systems offer?

The extraction arms of ELMAG extraction systems are available in lengths between 2 and 4 metres. With the "Profi-Master" mobile extraction system, you can choose between an arm length of 2, 3 or 4 metres in hose design. For applications that require a greater reach, ELMAG also offers extraction arms up to 6 metres in length. This flexibility allows the extraction arm to be optimally adapted to the specific requirements of the workplace and to ensure effective capture of fumes and pollutants.
