Inverter vs. petrol generators: the differences explained simply
Inverter generators are somewhat more complex in design than other generators. This makes them somewhat more expensive, but they have a decisive advantage: the generated electricity always has a constant voltage of 230 volts and a frequency of 50 Hz. This makes them ideal for operating sensitive devices such as televisions or computers. They are also particularly quiet and low-emission.
Petrol generators are very popular and are cheaper to buy than diesel generators. They run smoothly and quietly. Thanks to their mobile and lightweight design, they can be used flexibly almost anywhere. However, the fuel costs for petrol gensets are higher, which is why they are somewhat more expensive to maintain. They also consume more fuel than their diesel counterparts. They are therefore more suitable for short-term and occasional use.
When buying a generator, you should pay attention to the brand, design and service life of the engine. Cheap products with a short service life (e.g. less than 500 hours) often have a poor price-performance ratio. It is therefore worth investing in quality and durability.
